Cycling is a popular activity in Ireland. There is a developing traffic free network and two of the most popular routes are the Great Western Greenway and the Great Southern Trail, both of which are traffic free routes which make up sections of the Atlantic Coast Route (EuroVelo 1).There are also many sign-posted routes, some of which start in designated Cycle Hub Towns throughout the country. National Trails Office

The National Trails Office (NTO) is a unit of the Irish Sports Council. The NTO maintains a database of signposted walking and cycling routes in the country.

Some of the most enjoyable cycling routes are to be found on the vast network of small rural roads throughout the country and it is possible to choose a self guided route by looking at the Discovery Series Maps for Ireland (1:50000 scale) and choosing a route which suits your preferences.
