Cycling infrastructure is well developed near the Baltic Sea, where the "Seaside cycle route" provides a cycle path along the EuroVelo 10 (Baltic Sea route). Slower development is taking place in the Eastern part of the country along EuroVelo 11 (East Europe Route). And little by little, more bicycle paths are being built across. So follow the news and see the cycle network growing!
Cycle friendly services
There are many accommodation places and several transport companies in Lithuania which are cycle friendly! Worth to mention the following: - DFDS Seaways ferries from Klaipeda, Lithuania, to Kiel, Germany, and Karlshamn, Sweden (http://www.dfdsseaways.com); - Ferries of SMILTYNES PERKELA transporting bikes for free from two ferry terminals in Klaipeda to the Curonian Spit, and new ferry line between Klaipeda and Nida on Curonian Spit (operates once a day on weekends in May & September, twice daily June-August, http://www.keltas.lt/eng); - KAUTRA buses having special racks for bike transportation for free on public intercity routes in Lithuania (only in high season, http://www.kautra.lt)...
Not so much printed materials about cycling on EuroVelo routes in Lithuania is available, but some of them are worth to mention: Cycling along the Iron Curtain Trail in Lithuania -EuroVelo13 (Cycle route maps of Western Lithuania, M1:200000, and Klaipeda City, M1:25000) published by Baltic Bike Travel & DU RATAI in 2015 (texts in English, German, Russian, Lithuanian); - Iron Curtain Trail by Michael Cramer published by Esterbauer in 2009 (in English & German); - Europaradweg R1: Teil 2 Klaipeda-Lettland-Estland-St.Petersburg by Detlef Kaden published in 2013 (Tourguide, Karten and GPS tracks, in German)
