In France EuroVelo 17 is known as ViaRhôna and the route brings you from the shores of Lake Geneva to the beaches of the Mediterranean Sea along the banks of the River Rhone. This 815 km cycling route takes cycling tourists from the alpine panoramas to the beaches of the Camargue, while crossing the emblematic vineyard landscapes of the Côtes du Rhône and the southern part of Provence, home to hilltop villages, lavender fields, olive groves and gastronomic discoveries. It is a genuine path of civilizations, the ViaRhôna presents 2000 years of history and cultural heritage, including three UNESCO world heritage sites (in Lyon, Avignon, Arles).
