Experiences along the Rhine Cycle Route for the whole family

The Rhine Cycle Route EuroVelo 15 follows the Rhine and its 1.233 km from its source in the Swiss Alps to its outlet in the Dutch sea. It passes four countries and unique landscapes. Sights and activities for the whole family complete the offer for visitors of one of the largest rivers in Europe. The “Family tour Lake Constance” between Rorschach and Romanshorn in Switzerland is the perfect route to enjoy a relaxed trip with the whole family.

Different water sports and other free time activities are offered along the picturesque Lake Constance. Playgrounds, bathing spots, public parks and inviting lakeside promenades await travelers of this region. Located close by is the so called “meeting place Kellen”, the largest playground in Eastern Switzerland. Kids can climb, slide, swing and relax on ten different play islands.

Further down the Rhine, cyclists can experience a special wild waterpark, the Parc des Eaux Vives, in Huningue along the French Rhine Cycle Route. A climbing wall, fitness trail and especially water sports in a canal next to the Rhine, like kayaking, rafting and hydrospeed delight visitors of all age.

A riparian wilderness path in Neuried (Black Forest) invites cyclists to a relaxing stop after a cycle trip along the Rhine Cycle Route. The shaded riparian forest offers cool temperatures even in the summer time. A footbath in one of the crystal clear branches of the Rhine contributes to a relaxing experience.

Just across the river from Strasbourg is the German city Kehl located along the Rhine Cycle Route. Following the “Blue Trail” (“Blauer Weg”), guests learn interesting facts about the city’s history and the connections between Baden and Alsace. Footprints along the sidewalk lead the direction. The individual city walk passes buildings, monuments and churches that document the development of the city.

Visitors who want to experience the Palatinate city Germersheim in a special way, can take part in a “guided cycling tour through the fortified town”. While guests cycle leisurely through the city, guides point out interesting facts about the history of Germersheim. Public tours will take place on August 27 and September 24, 2017.

Classes, tours and events around one of the latest trend sports, stand up paddling, are offered in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg. This part of the Rhine qualifies for this sport, as there are no currents and no waves. Participants learn to stand up safely on the board during a two-hour-long class and guided tours open up unique views of the passing promenades.

The Romantic Rhine stretches from Bingen/Rüdesheim up to Remagen/Unkel. This part of the Rhine impresses with an exceptional cultural landscape. A river cruise along the many sights, like castles, palaces and the Loreley rock, is one of the most popular trips of guests to this area. Travelers looking for a more active way to explore the river and its surroundings can try out “Mittelrhein-Rafting”.The guided rafting tours in the middle of the Rhine are perfect for corporate events, school trips but also for trips with the whole family.
